2. The former lifeboat station is now home to the Holyhead Maritime Museum. The museum houses a variety of artifacts and exhibits covering the maritime and social history of the town from the Iron age up to the present day. Part of the museum complex includes a Second World War air-raid shelter, one of sixteen built at the commencement of the war as part of the town's defences. It currently houses a permanent exhibition 'Holyhead at War.'
