Description
Nant-y-Banw Mill is a small, two-storey building of rubblestone with a slate roof, thought to date from the early eighteenth century. The wheelpit on the north-east gable formerly accommodated an overshot waterwheel. Inside the building the cast iron pit wheel and a wooden wallower gear were reported, in 2000, to be in situ at the north-east end of the ground floor, with one millstone in situ on the floor above. The mill probably ceased work in the mid-nineteenth century, as none of the historic O. S. maps name it as a mill, and the 1st edition of 1882 depicts trees growing in the former millpond.
