Description
Rhiwbina, formerly a village in its own right, is now a suburb of Cardiff. The area is home to numerous religious establishments: the churches of St Thomas, and All Saints; the chapels of Beulah, Bethesda, Bethany, Bethel, and Rhiwbina Baptist Church; and the church of Christ of the Latter Day Saints (Mormons). Other notable local features include a Norman motte, known as the Rhiwbina Twmpath. At the end of the 11th century Morgannwg, the last of the native Welsh princes, was killed in a nearby battle. Part of Rhiwbina, known as the Garden Village, owes it layout and design to the Garden City movement of the early 20th century.
