Description
A substantial two storey stone built house with barn, both now entirely roofless. Probably of late C18th century date. The house was once hung with slates and the somewhat irregular nailing of the battens has left holes in the mortar joints. The house was approached from the road by a drystone walled drive and there is good evidence of a walled garden to the W. The Penmaen Papers deposited in the County Record Office at Dolgellau record a number of the one time occupants of Hafotty-fach. Notable was John Williams (1740-1821) a famous composer of folk music in his day and many of his works survive today.
