Ffridd Newydd farmstead appears on the 1st edition of the OS Maps, published in 1891. The house itself was probably built at some point in the nineteenth century, and lies within a complex of stone-walled enclosures on the hills north east of Garn Dolbenmaen. Ffridd Newydd is situated some five miles north west of Porthmadog.
