Description

Ebenezer Independent Chapel was built in 1860, rebuilt in 1883 and rebuilt again in 1904.

RCAHMW, August 2010

The Ebenezer Chapel and accompanying Vestry building, formerly the earlier Chapel, is a natural stone, relatively plain 20th century chapel building with stone quoins and detailing around windows and the main entrance. It is set above the road and bordered by a low wall below decorative railings. Dated 1904. It is included in the Neath Port Talbot list of Buildings of Local Importance and Designated Canal Structures (Neath Port Talbot Council).

The earlier chapel supposedly built in 1883 as indicated by a foundation plaque on its west facing front elevation. The first chapel was very likely built to serve colliery workers and their families who worked at the former Primrose Colliery.
