Description
St Paul's Church is not depicted on modern Ordnance Survey mapping, although its quadrilateral churchyard is. The church was erected to serves new ecclesiastical parish, constituted in 1846. St Peter's Church (NPRN 12388), Christchurch (NPRN 12088), St John's Church (NPRN 12092), St Barnabas Church and St David's Church (NPRN 12584) were all chapels of ease to St Paul's. The church was constructed in 1848-1851, to the designs of George Gilbert Scott. It consisted of nave, chancel, south aisle, south transept and south porch. The church was restored in 1879. It was repaired and reseated in 1914. The church was demolished in the 1980s.
