Description
Gwern-y-Pant Methodist Chapel was built in 1816 and renewed to form the present chapel in 1868. The chapel is built in the Simple Round-Headed style with a gable entry plan, brick walls and slate roof. The windows with glazing bars and radiating tracery are in mid nineteenth century style and the front gable entry is of whitewashed brick with tall flanking windows. There are three steps to a centre, flat-arched doorway with two, two-moulded panel doors, there is a cornice over these on carved consoles. There are two window side returns with brick eaves; the right hand return with a centre slate plaque is inscribed "Adeiladwyd Capel hwn 1816" with long following text. There is a small single storey extension at right angles to the left hand return and a blind and slate-hung rear gable. The chapel site is enclosed at the front by dwarf walls with iron railings and gates. This chapel closed in 2001 and by 2003 Gwern-y-Pant stood disused.
