DescriptionWorking is thought to have begun before c.1840 and the mine operated until 1853, with a steam pumping engine installed in 1850, further work took place 1856-7 and 1862-67. A further period of activity appears to have involved the installation of a second steam engine c.1870. The wheelpit may have operated during the periods of activity between 1856-67.
There are remains of a wheelpit beside Nant-y-Ffin (SN68216785), with the commencement of the flat-rod route to the main site (SN98956791) marked by a gully. There are also areas of tips here. A rusting Cornish boiler marks the main working area, with traces of buildings, a single shaft mouth and further areas of tips.
