St Margaret's church is located between Gladstone Street and Cardiff Road. It was built in 1883, at the expense of Sir George Elliot for his employees in the Powell Dyffryn mines, to designs of architect E.H.Lingen Barker. Built in Lancet style with Geometric tracery, it is an unexceptional cruciform church with a semi-circular east apse, badly in need of a vertical feature. The gabled porch is on the north-west. The lancet windows contain stained glass by Mayer & Co of Munich, and by Jones & Willis (1899).
