Description

St John's church is located on the east side of Birchgrove Road, set back from the road in its own grounds with a church hall beside it. It was built in Perpendicular style in 1890-1 as a daughter church in the parish of Llansamlet. to designs of J.Birch Padden. It consists of nave and chancel, north-east vestry, and tower with entrance at west gable. The church was extended by two bays in 1930. Fittings include a font in the form of a tiny bowl on a thick baluster stem, dated 1829. Stained glass includes work by Heaton, Butler & Bayne (1930).
