Description
St David's church is set in a small graveyard on the corner of Talbot Street and Castle Street, at the centre of Maesteg. It was built in 1852-3 by Egbert Moxham of Neath as a chapel of ease - a simple Early English lancet affair - for Llangynwyd parish church, to provide more convenient orthodox anglican service for the growing community of Maesteg. It is constructed of snecked local Pennant sandstone rubble with Bath stone dressings under a slate roof, and comprises a three-bay nave with gabled north porch and west bellcote, and lower chancel with lean-to side chambers.
