Description
Trerhondda Independent Chapel was built in 1867, extended in 1878 and modified 1900-05, including a vestry extention, new pulpit, new seating and repainting. The Chapel is built in the Vernacular style with two storeys and a gable entry plan. As the congregation of Trerhondda grew it became the mother-chapel to many smaller local chapels. This chapel closed in 1994 and was converted for use as a Community Hall. The building is now Grade 2 Listed, despite the loss of its interrior in 1994, for its historic importance to the Rhondda and for the well preserved historic character of the exterior in a dominant position in the town.
