Description
Ground features noted during field visit are much as shown on the published plan (AW vol.32, p.93). Of particular note is the outward facing scarp on the E which, although tree-lined, is quite unlike other boundaries hereabouts. Whether or not this is part of one side of an enclosure pre-dating other land boundaries turns on the reality or otherwise of the aerial photo line. There is, in fact, a faintly discernible local fall along this line and, in places, a corresponding slight rise towards the road suggesting a ploughed down scarp and outer ditch. The most dominant earthworks on the site are those relating to Cae Ddu. A prominent field bank along the N side of the site is not shown on the published plan. It is unlikely that survey would show much more than is already portrayed.
