DescriptionReported sighting of two ?platform houses, probably those listed in the Commission's Inventory, located on a gentle SW-facing, bracken infested slope. No obvious platforms were seen but a number of stone piles were.
ST 00878398 (1) a stony mound 9.5m (NW-SE) by 6.8m, 0.6m high on the downhill side but only 0.2m uphill.
ST 00890840 (2) 8m (E-W) by 7m, 0.5m high on W (0.2m on E).
ST 00900840 (3) Immediately E of (2) a third mound 6.8m (NW-SE) by 6.2m and 0.5m high on SW (less than 0.2m on NE).
(1) and (2) are possibly the alleged platforms as they each project from the hillside suggesting the outer lips of platforms. But there is a lack of any cutting back into the slope associated with such constructions. In the case of (1) there is level ground only a little way upslope.
All three mounds are probably clearance features and there are doubtless more concealed in the surrounding bracken.
