Description
1. Origins as a 17th century house which was extensively remodelled and extended in the 19th century. The rear wing retains the fabric of an earlier dwelling, including a sub-medieval doorway with chamfered jambs and a four-centred arched head. Above this was an amourial sheild dated to 1620, which was removed when the house was renovated in the 1950s. At this time the former stables and coach house were modernised and split into three seperate dwellings.

In 1841, the census recorded the brothers William (a solicitor) and George Hughes (farmer) as living in the house, while by 1842 the house is recorded as belonging to Henry Rowlands Esq, part occupied by Joseph Jones, and part by Henry Richard.

The earliest part of the house is incorporated into the north-south range, which is now the rear wing of the early 19th century frontage block. Set at right angles to it is the stable block, the complex forming a roughly L-shaped plan with a single storey block in the south-east angle being a probable boiling house. These are probably constructed of rubble masonry, with roughcast rendering over, while the slate roof is modern.

The 19th century frontage block is three storeys, with the entrance comprised of a laen-to porch along the east wall. The north side is the principal elevation, with 16-pane hornless sashes on the ground and first floor, and second floor 12-pane sashes set directly under the eaves, the central one being blind or blocked.

The interior has been extensively modernised.
