Description
A row of three near identical later nineteenth century hotels, built on rising ground at the north end of the Parade.
These are three bay, three storey buildings with basements and attics. Belle Vue and Waverley have central doorways, approached by steps, flanked by two storey bay windows rising from the basements. The attics are lit by gabled dormers in the slate roof. Bryn-y-Mor has a side entrance and a window at the centre of the ground floor.
The rising ground has produced some irregularities. The basements and ground floors of Bryn-y-Mor and Belle Vue are only one room and a corridor deep. A passage leads to the street from the basement of Belle Vue. It has or had, a toilet and other chambers leading off from it.
On the 1st edition OS Town Plan of 1889 belle Vue is called 'Hyfryd-Le' and Waverley is called 'The Olives'.
