Description
An earlier nineteenth century house consisting of a main two storey south facing range with single storey lofted wings framing a yard at the rear. The house appears to have been altered and extended before 1889. The house stands to one side of a farmyard that features a fine collection of mid nineteenth century farmbuildings (NPRN 31573-4, 33668).
The main elevation consists of a three bay facade with sash windows and a central doorway under a slate pitched roof framed by chimney stacks. There are outer bays to the east and west.
It seems likely that both outer bays were originally as the east end bay producing a balanced symmetrical facade. The east bay is single storey and lofted under a lean-to roof below the gabled end of the main building. It has a ground floor sash window and a smaller loft window above.
The west end bay has been carried up to the full height of the range and both floors have sash windows under the hipped roof end. A hipped roof polygonal bay projects from the north end wall. This has a sash window above a french window. Both this and the main facade were or are, slate hung. The projecting bay is shown on the 1st edition OS County series (Carmarthen. XLV.9 1889).
The interior retains many original early nineteenth century features, including the staircase, lit by a sash window overlooking the rear yard. The kitchen is in the east rear range.
