Description
A mid nineteenth century estate farmhouse presumably on the site of an earlier plas or mansion.
The two storey house faces west across a forecourt reached by a narrow drive or lane. It presents a symmetrical three bay facade in a faux Tudor style. The walls are of purple stone rubble with contrasting sandstone quoins or cornerstones. The slate roof has pronounced gable overhangs, introducing an Alpine air. The central doorway is in a broad segmental arched opening with heavy quoins and voussoirs or arch stones, under a gabled split stone hood. The windows all have Tudor style hoodmolds. The upper windows are lower than those below.
The house is two rooms deep with a near central staircase.
Adjoining on the north is a lower two storey range, shown as a smithy on the OS County series 1st edition (Carmarthen. XXVI.15 1887).
