Pen-y-Coed, St Clears, is a country house of the earlier 19th century, remodelled c.1926. The building is large, nearly square in plan, painted roughcast with some stucco dressings. It has hipped slate roofs, a five-window entrance front with plinth, simple cornice between floors, and a stucco band under the eaves. There is a centre projecting enclosed porch, which replaced an oversized 2-storey portico, removed c.1926, seen in old photographs.
