Description

Blaen-canaid was a 17th century farmhouse, partially rebuilt and restored in the 19th century as seen from the external details, and in the late 20th century. In 1620 the farmstead was chosen as the primary meeting place for Dissenters in the Merthyr area due to it's remote location. There were c.24 members and Edward o'r Gurnos, aone of the congregation acted as minister. Meetings here continued until 1640, by which time the congregation had become too large for the meeting room at which point the moved to Cwmglo farm (NPRN 96604).
