Description
A terrace of mid 19th century, classical houses (originally arranged as 2 pairs plus one), with a centre-left block having a later, cantilevered Tudor bay with a 5-light window over linking porches. The houses are 3-storeys plus attics and basements, and have stuccoed 2-bay fronts which are linked by 1 storey porches. They have slate roofs with gabled dormers and central panelled stacks, an eaves cornice and blocking course. There are plain pilasters over the main cornice, and Corinthian pilasters below. The windows have architraves and cornices on volute brackets to the ground floor examples, and there are large, later splayed bay windows through all storeys with 2 storey splayed bays to left sides. The sash windows have small-pane glazing (not to Nos 139, 140 and 147). There are Ionic columns in antis to side porches and panelled doorcases.
