Description
Birchfield House is one of a pair of later Georgian houses. Both Birchfield House and Blenheim House were built as one three-storey property in the late C18, and were then known as Albion House, but were later divided into two c 1868. This house was the home of Alfred Hillman the printer between 1886-1914.

This house occupies the upper right-hand end bay of an overall four-bay road frontage with the main elevation being at right angles overlooking the garden to the side. The walls are stucco rendered and there is a shallow pitched machine-tile roof. The single window range to the road frontage comprises of a two-storey segmental bow window with sashes, whilst the upper storey window was enlarged in the C20. The garden elevation to the side has a three-window range of sashes, a deep moulded and swept plinth, and a central doorway with a fluted architrave and console brackets to a semicircular hood.
