Description
Frankleston is situated on the north-west fringe of Penally, on the south side of the minor road to Lamphey. It was a rubble stone built T-shaped cottage, with a steep pitched slate (over corrugated iron) roof. It has a large square stone chimney, tapering from the bottom to the top. The main part of the house was 1.5 storey, with a single storey wing. The messuage of Frankleston or Franklaston is referred to in a deed of 1633, being bought by John Wogan from William Voyle. Frankleston appears to have been extended and modernised since 1967, as indicated by the 2000 OS Landline 1:2500 map, in comparison with the 1967 photographs of the building and the OS 25" to the mile maps of 1907 and previously.
