DescriptionAn octagonal timber shelter on the west side of the garden surrounding Whitchurch Hospital (nprn 31924). It has a corrugated roof, shaped and pierced valancing and a boarded ceiling. The roof is carried on pillars, the top halves of which are in the form of turned balusters. This is one of six shelters and is probably contemporary with the hospital main building of 1908-10. Fresh air was considered an important part of treatment for mental patients.
