Description
The Eagle and Child Hotel, built around 1770, later the Royal Hotel, comprised a central three storey, triple pedimented block, flanked by two storey wings. It was converted into private dwellings following the opening of the nearby Station Hotel (NPRN 34616), itself now demolished. The central block and southern wing have gone and this, the surviving northern wing, which includes a arched entrance, was later converted into offices. The outbuildings to the rear (NPRN 31103) have been demolished to make way for car parking.
