Llanarth former National School was built in 1859-60 by R.J. Withers with additional classroom in 1867. The original building was single storey, T-plan of course grey stone, thinly banded with red brick and slate roofs. The original windows were small paned with centre timber mullion and shouldered heads. The listing includes Llanarth Villa which was the former teacher's house.
