Maestir School was built by Sir Charles Harford for the children of the farmworkers on the Falcondale Estate. The school, originally called St Mary's Board School after the church of St Mary's nearby, opened on 2 September 1880. A stone building with a slate pitched roof and brick chimney. One room school with attached cloakroom and entrance porch. Due to decreasing numbers, Maestir School closed in 1916, but later dismantled in 1981 and taken to St Fagans Museum where it opened in 1984.
