Description
The former non-denominational school was opened in 1871 and designed by Richard Owens, a Liverpool architect best known for his chapel designs. The building was built in the simple Tudor-Gothic style and had a T-shape plan with steep roofs, banded with fish-scale slates. The site is marked on the first edition 25" OS map, FL II. 11, of 1872 and is labelled as the 'British School'.
