On 15 November 1941, Bristol Beaufighter T3024 undershot the landing strip on approach (at night). The undercarriage hit sand dunes and collapsed on landing, which resulted in the aircraft swinging off the runway into the sand. The Beaufighter was assigned to 456 Squadron based at RAF Valley and contemporary reports note that it was believed repairable.
