Although not precisely located on the seabed, the remains of this aircraft are designated as a Controlled Site under the Protection of Military Remains Act 1986. Event and Historical Information:
On 11 December 1943, a Supermarine Spitfire was forced to crash land in Cable Bay (Porth Trecastell). The Spitfire was from RNAS St Merryn. The pilot survived suffering only slight injury.
