Description
Archaeological remains associated with the stranding of this vessel are not confirmed as present at this location, however they may possibly be in the vicinity.

Event and Historical Information:
The steamship ETHIOPIA was on passage from Hamburg to Port Talbot in ballast, when it stranded on Oxwich Point on 23 February 1900. Initial attempts to pull the steamer off by the Port Eynon lifeboat, two tugs from Swansea and a pilot steamer were unsuccessful. However, the steamer was later refloated and taken to Port Talbot for repairs.
