Event and Historical Information:
The RESOLUTE was a schooner which set off in company of the schooner HOPE from Porthmadog with cargo of slate on 9 March 1891. The two schooners were joined by another, the ELIZA HANNAH, which had been sheltering in the St Tudwalls roadstead. As the three rounded into the Bristol Channel they were caught in a hurricane. The HOPE and ELIZA Hannah's last sighting of the RESOLUTE was that it had been shortening sail in preparation to try and ride out the storm.
