Description
Over most of the Dry Firing Area on the Sennybridge Training Area, military fieldworks were recorded during April 2008. A few of these have ben recorded individually, either as a good example of their type, or because they are in aan area of older earthwork features and may confuse fieldworkers in the future when they have become grassed over. The remaining 801 fieldworks are recorded under this number, details of them giving grid reference and dimensions will be found in the archive.
The main types are
a) Narrow trenches 0.5m wide and between 2m and 8m long.
b) ' V ' shaped trenches again 0.5m wide and each arm 2m long
c) Square hollows, up to 4m in diameter
d) Deturfed areas ? not all of these were recorded, but includes rectangular stripped areas on average 1.5m x 2.5m, that had been used to create field maps.
e) Circular areas of stone 5-10m in diameter ? these were not recorded, and seem to relate to recent military activity.
