Description
The building is attached to the NE corner of a large sheepfold or enclosure, on a N-facing slope and 15m east of a stream, running down the valley. The rectangular building was a hut associated with the adjacent sheepfold and built on level ground. The walls lack mortar and are built from stone and are faced internally with rough stone and faced externally with rough stone. They are 1m thick and not built on orthostats. The position of any hearth is not evident. The position of the doorway is not evident. The walls where they survive are 0.5m high. The building measures internally 8m by 5m. Shepherd's hut in the northeast corner of a sheepfold or enclosure. southern side is open, with an entrance to the enclosure complex to the west of the hut, on the northern side of the enclosure, running down slope. An area of quarrying or robbing lies 5m to the south of the hut. It is not evident whether disturbance is due to quarrying the stone to create enclosure or robbing later robbing activity once area is disused. The ground cover was bracken at the time of survey. G.
