Description
The sheepfold is at the base of an east facing slope, near the base of a valley. The reservoir is due SW and a quarry is on the upper slope. This freestanding sheepfold is of rectangular shape with 2 cells. The fold measures 20m by 10m and it is 1m high. The sheepfold is connected to another smaller cell to the south by a drystone wall. The smaller sheepfold is 7m in length and 3m wide, with an adjacent shepherd hut on the south side 3m long and 2m wide internally. The walls are 0.5m thick and 1m high. Walling stone was quarried on site, from the natural outcrop above. The ground cover was bracken at the time of survey. B. Britton and G. Arnold, ArchaeoPhysica Ltd, 07/01/2009
