A ruined kiln or oven lies lies adjacent to rock exposures. The exposed bowl measures about 1.2m internal diameter, and stands max.1m high. Built into stony bank of similar height and rubble is piled up around it, the interior neatly faced with smaller, fairly regular blocks, some reddened through heating. Although there is no obvious evidence for lime burning (spreads of lime with charcoal flecks etc) it seems likely in this environment that this is what it was for, the purpose being perhaps to locally improve coarse moorland pasture. It construction is also reminiscent of other local limekilns. It lies adjacent to house platform.
