Description
C19 dam of a pond, probably a reservoir supplying a waterwheel at Cefn Pawl lead mine situated 200m to the S, shown on the 1st edition OS map. Arc-shaped earthen dam, 6m wide at the base; 1.5-2.5m high to outer side, 1.5m high to inner side. N end at SO1704280142, mid-point as NGR, S end at SO1706480106. The dam is now breached so the pond is empty. It is irregular in shape, 30 x 20m but narrower at the N end; probable leat to SE corner, although it is not shown on the OS map. The pond was fed by natural springs.
