Description
Intake from the common shown on the 1846 Beguildy Tithe survey and still a roofed house on 1889 OS map.
Ruins of a 3-unit building (2-unit house with stable?) 10m E-W by 5m, with entrance on the S side. Walls are up to 1.2m high and are 0.45m thick. The house has an offset entrance, suggesting late C17 or C18 origin, to the large central unit. This has a large fireplace 1.9m wide and, projecting out from the N wall, a brick bread oven. The L-hand unit is less well preserved and has no front wall. The R-hand unit has a separate entrance and no doorway from the main unit, suggesting non-domestic use (stable?).
Recorded as part of Uplands Initiative Survey. R Hayman, H&H, 15/07/08.
