Description
The site of a temporary railway system, thought to have been standard gauge, which was built from Torpantau Station to the Lower Neuadd Reservoir, NPRN 246462, and operated during the 1880s. It was extended to the Upper Neuadd Reservoir, NPRN 246463, when that was under construction in the late 1890s. The route of the main line from Torpantau is now preserved in trackways and roadways, but many of the spurs that ran off this line are now lost either in tree cover around Neuadd House or buried beneath the muds of the Upper Neuadd Reservoir. An approximation of the layout of the system is shown on a map included in "Reservoir Builders of South Wales: Book 6" by Harold D. Bowtell & Geoffrey Hill, 2006, p.36. R.P. Sambrook, Trysor, 11 November 2008.
