Description
1. Built circa 1800? Converted to woollen factory late 19th century until 1925. 1983 f. corn-mill once again.

2. The 1983 conversion was achieved by collecting mill machinery from other locations. The overshot composite waterwheel had a gear ring bolted to the wooden spokes, driving a shaft from which belt drives powered the millstones. At a later stage the waterwheel was moved to make way for an extension, and replaced some six metres north-eastwards along the tailrace, reversed so that the buckets face the wrong way and the gear ring is on the wrong side. The internal machinery has now been removed, and lies around the site; a small cast iron pitwheel leans against the north-west wall and smaller gears and shafts lie in the headrace. The headrace and site of the former mill pond can be seen to the south-west of the mill building, the latter with a curved stone-faced dam and circular, vertical outlet sluice.
