Description
A corn mill marked on the 1839 Tithe Map as belonging to Tyddyn Madoc (or Tyddyn-y-Fadoc) to the north (now demolished, formerly at SH8017462271, note the modern street names `Cae Tyddyn? and `Cae'r Felin?) and named as Felin Isaf on historic O.S. Maps. The main mill site consists of three elevations on the eastern bank of the river with related residential buildings to the east (SH8017262085). These residential buildings were replaced in the late-nineteenth century (between 1875?1900) by the larger range of cottages currently at the site. The mill was constructed of rubble stone with a two-storey central structure with single-storey elevations to the west and south. When photographed in 1954, the structure was in a state of dereliction. In 2017, the lot on which the mill sat was for sale with planning permission for its demolition and the construction of residential property in its place.
