Description
A late sixteenth century house, added to and modified through the seventeenth and early eighteenth century. Partly demolished and otherwise restored and re-roofed, following a fire in the 1960s.
The surviving building, of two storeys and attics, faces south, presenting a three window facade, with central doorway.
The orginal house comprised a hall to the west and a byre to the east, separated by a cross-passage behind the hall fireplace. A stair rose behind the chimney.
A two storey cross wing was added on the west in the early seventeenth century, with two heated parlours on the ground floor. This wing was demolished following the 1960s fire, when the stud panel partition at the west ed of the hall was replaced by the present gable wall.
A rear wing, with cellar and staircase with oak block treads, was added in the mid seventeenth century.
The eastern part of the original house was modified in the early eighteenth century. A tablet bearing the arms of the Price family and the date 1726, is set above the entrance.
