Description
A late sixteenth and seventeenth century house, derelict in 1994. Across the yard is a barn with late seventeenth century graffiti dates (NPRN 31221).
The earliest part of the house is the hall block on the north. This has a fireplace and stair turret at the lower end and a formerly partioned-off lofted inner room. The hall was originally open to the roof and featured a dias canopy, part of which survives. An upper floor was inserted in the seventeenth century. A lofted parlour block was added on the south in the earlier seventeenth century. This may originally have been or have replaced, a byre. The parlour retained an oak mullioned window and was separated from the hall block by a cross passage. A doorway of c. 1600 led from the passage into the lower end of the hall.
