Description
A later nineteenth century hotel facing south towards Conwy across the estuary. The building marries a variety of styles, including a 'chateaux' style four storey tower at the western end of the facade. The central block has an advanced cross gabled centre bay. The hotel is thought to incorporate an earlier house. Parts of the interior had a Gothic aspect. The three storey block behind the tower was added between 1912 and 1937.
Early editions of OS County series (Caernarvon. IV.8 1889, 1900, 1912, 1937) depict the hotel's developement. A kitchen garden with outbuildings, shown on the far side of the Deganwy Road in 1889 & 1900, may have been associated with it. There are grounds to the south-east of the hotel, between the road and the railway.
