Description
Fachddeiliog was the shooting box or lodge creation of Sir Richard Colt Hoare and Sir John Leicester, who bought an old farm on this spot, planted it, installed a caretaker and visited it regularly during the first decade of the nineteenth century. Conceived as a bungalow-style one-storey structure, it was thatched and the whole front canopied under wooden poles. These were later replaced by cast iron. This garden is depicted on the Second Edition Ordnance Survey 25-inch map of Merionethshire XXII, sheet 7 (1901). when it had a flagstaff, boathouse, parkland, woodland, reservoir.

Although there is now considerable residential/hotel development to the rear of the building, and the immediate front of the site is planted with a swimming pool, the parkland, the view across the lake and Colt Hoare's original notion remain.
