Description
1. Unspoilt house, farm, park and gardens: The grounds consist of a ha-ha (see nprn 96169) round apron front of more than half a circle, marked on OS 6inch map as a monument; there are views to the South over the valley of river Alyn and river Terrig. Specimen trees notably lime, yew, beech and holly; shrubbery; 'L' shaped walled garden and pleasure ground; in the North wall are ruins of a greenhouse, previously a possible peach house with heated walls on 3 sides; dipping pond, fed from a culvert; bee-boles; pigeon houses in the gable of the barn; fruit trees; gazebo with round arch in centre and pointed arches at either side; park palings with 3 matching iron gates hung from round posts of dressed sandstone.

2. This garden is depicted on the Second Edition Ordnance Survey 25-inch map of Flintshire XIV, sheet 9 (1899). Its main elements on that map include contrived antiquity, pond, kitchen garden, carriage drive, haw haw, parkland, walled garden, dipping pond, bee-boles, and gazebo. C.H.
