Description
Three sided tear-shaped sheep dip, N of Afon Cammarch. Of length 11m, width 9.5m whilst both wall height and thickness are 1.2m, it has been built just 10m away from a 6m high waterfall. An entrance in the NE corner of the complex allows the livestock to enter and are subsequently funnelled through to the downward sloping exit point which opens into the river. A dry stone wall across the width of the river creates a still pool of water, the 'dip', and protects the livestock from wandering towards the precarious waterfall, and channels them to the other side of the river. Dry stone walls topped by turf. Stone wall/pen on S side of river. J.Bonsall, NT, 20/07/2002
