1. Single storey, with brick facing, hexagonal plan pillbox with attached rectangular plan shelter, and semi-circular plan LAAMG (Light Anti-Aircraft Machine Gun) post. Part of the defences of RAF Bodorgan. Circular plan opening in concrete roof of pillbox allows access to a square plan structure consisting of a flat concrete roof carried by a brick pillar at each corner. 2. Pillbox, defensively sited on rock ridge overlooking Malltraeth Bay to the south. Aligned north-west/south-east.

Northwestern-most structure: a circular walled parapet 2.75m internal diameter. with central plinth for LAMMG (0.85m diameter. Height 1.15m. dislodged concrete cone) Brick built elevation with concrete capping. Walls 1.2m high & open to sky.

On south side, door through to covered passage into covered rectangular room, 2.4m x 2.1m, with flat cast concrete roof with plank impressions on underside. A fireplace in southern corner with external brick-built chimney above. Inside, wall-mounted channels and timber holders for telephone wires. Brick elevation. Internal height 1.55m.

Two steps up to south-eastern room; the pillbox. Hexagonal pillbox, brick built. Six concrete embrasures. SE & NE with external ‘1940’ graffiti in lintel. Fitting for an iron tube centrally in each splayed embrasure, each embrasure measuring 0.32m x 0.26m. Central concrete plinth. 0.7m diameter & 0.78 high with 0.5m high surviving broken metal rod reaching up through circular roof aperture, 0.7m diameter. Concrete roof slab is 0.2m thick.

The pillbox is surmounted by square brick tower with four brick pillars and concrete roof. This may have been for a ‘Lion Light’, a form of an area illuminating lamp that used a flare in front of a polished reflector, only lit if under attack at night. Another possibility, is that it was for a ‘Chance Light’ navigation beacon that was switched on to help guide lost aircraft. Information from Roger Thomas.
