This record comprises a documentary reference to a shipping casualty which has been assigned to the maritime named location WEST HOYLE BANK pending more information which may allow a more precise location for the loss to be assigned.

Event and Historical Information:
The RED ROVER was an 89gt wooden schooner built at Aberdeen in 1829. At time of loss on 12 October 1858, the vessel was under the command of J Louden and carrying a cargo of iron ore. The schooner ran onto on the West Hoyle Bank and became stranded in northwesterly force 8 gale.
